Some Hedge Apples of My Own

My Mom was right, this weekend she led me to a spot near my parent's house (above) that was littered with hedge apples! If you look closely at the ground you can see them. We picked up a few & took them home to experiment a little with arrangements. They are really cool, and a great shade of green! Here is a close-up:

Those are so neat! I bettcha you can do alot with those! What ideas are you coming up with? (and super cost effective too!)

I love hedge apples! I wish I had pictures, but I already checked and no luck. Anyway, I had a bride who had small ones and used them in her very tall glass centerpieces. Like how you see fruit used often? That's what she did with the floral arrangement and candleabra on top of it. It was awesomely different!

Thanks, Melissa & Danica! I was actually thinking about doing something similar to what Danica mentioned below - either putting them in tall glass cylinders or possibly stacking them in some black urns. They're so weird looking but so cool!

I like that scene with the walkway under the trees.
